About the Opportunity:
The Department of Mathematics invites applications for Zelevinsky Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Training Group (ZPF/RTG) positions, to begin for the Fall semester of 2020. This position are associated with the NSF Research Training Grant in Algebraic geometry and Representation theory. Participating postdoctoral associates supported with NSF funds in RTG must be citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the United States and its territories and possessions. An RTG postdoctoral associate may not have held the doctoral degree for more than two years as of January 1 of the year in which his or her appointment begins. Any exceptions to this date restriction, occasioned for example by a career interruption, must be approved on a case-by-case basis by the cognizant program officer.

This NSF training grant position, available to recent graduates, is geared towards providing promising mathematicians the opportunity to begin their careers in an active and stimulating research environment, with attractive teaching assignments and ample opportunity for contact with senior research mathematicians.

Responsibilities:
Applicants are expected to conduct research at a high level. They should also have a commitment to high quality classroom instruction. The teaching load for the ZPF/RTG position is two courses per academic year.



Qualifications:
Candidates are required to have received a Ph.D. degree or equivalent by the start of the appointment.

Applications are welcome from those with prior academic and/or postdoctoral research experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

Applicants should have strong research potential. Field of research should be consonant with the current research interests of the department, and candidates are strongly encouraged to indicate a member or members of the Mathematics Department with overlapping research interests.
