Job Description

This positions' pay ranges from $4,389 - $$6,000 per month, depending on experience and/or qualifications of the selected candidate.

The Research Development Officer, under direction, facilitates research team interactions and progress for undergraduate research. Identifies funding sources and solicitations, builds and organizes research teams to target such funding, and synthesizes research concepts to develop competitive proposals.

This position is funded by grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and efficiently manage graduate and undergraduate research-related programs and activities, including internal funding announcements, collection and recommendation of research proposals for funding, collection and editing, and proofreading of graduate and undergraduate research progress reports.
  • Lead and periodically organize student-centered events for research opportunities, career success, training programs, and student research presentations in colloquia, conferences, and symposia, such as research week student conference and annual student research conference.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate grant-writing workshops for faculty and researchers to facilitate proposal development for student research training and education, such as REU, LSAMP, NRT, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Three years of experience in experience in managing undergraduate research, including conducting workshops, symposiums, and conferences for undergraduate students, and assembling proposals to external funding agencies for undergraduate research grants.


Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Understanding of a broad spectrum of multi-disciplinary proposal elements and synthesis for research and education.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in applicable field.
  • Five years of experience in leading multi-disciplinary faculty members for the preparation and submission of significant proposals to federal funding agencies.
