Department Summary
The Office of the Vice President for Research & Innovation (OVPRI) promotes excellence in research at the University of Oregon. Research, both basic and applied, is fundamental to the mission of the University and is essential to Oregon's economic and civic vitality. OVPRI supports interdisciplinary research centers, essential core facilities and emboldens innovation and economic development through strategic partnering and technology transfer initiatives. Research Compliance Services (RCS) is the central research integrity office to help faculty, staff, and students navigate complex federal and state research compliance regulations so that innovative and collaborative research may flourish. RCS supports and protects the interests of the University, faculty, staff, students and human research subjects in research compliance matters through guidance, education, and technical assistance.
RCS is responsible for the Human Research Protections and Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) programs, Financial Conflict of Interest in Research (FCOIR), and Conflicts of Interest/Conflicts of Commitment, In addition, RCS provides administrative support in cases of alleged Research Misconduct and other research compliance matters, including Clinical Trials research regulations.
Position Summary
The Research Compliance Administrator I (RCA I) is a member on a team of professionals in the Research Compliance Services Office (RCS) who are dedicated to research integrity and compliance and deliver excellent customer service to support UO research. The RCA I serves as a subject matter expert in research compliance and integrity.
This position is responsible for facilitating basic compliance reviews, supporting complex compliance reviews and maintaining essential regulatory documentation. This position supports the administration of the compliance committees, including the Committee for the Protection of Human Subjects, UO's Institutional Review Board (IRB) and the UO's Conflict of Interest in Research Committee.
The RCA I provides general operational support to the unit, including developing and maintaining website content and unit metrics. This position supports unit initiatives focused on education and outreach to foster research integrity.
The RCA I serves as a resource to the research community, research administration colleagues and other stakeholders via phone, email, and in-person consultations. The RCA I has a foundational understanding of regulatory processes and requirements. It is expected the individual further develop content expertise in research compliance and integrity to provide service and to review, evaluate and interpret materials for regulatory compliance and ethical best practices.
This is a full-time position and typically reports directly to an Assistant Director in RCS. The duties of this position are determined based on volume and unit needs. Responsibilities may be focused in one or more of the unit's program areas. The RCA I may report to team or project leads for specifically assigned duties. The RCA I completes duties as directed and operates with some independence in daily operations based on skill-level, unit operating procedures, and work assigned. The RCA I must adhere to established processes, procedures, and guidance based on federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies as well as best practices in research compliance and integrity.
Minimum Requirements

Four (4) or more years of professional experience focused on research administration, research compliance and integrity, other regulatory compliance in an active research setting.

-Experience working in a research-intensive institution of higher education
-Experience in active research setting that included human subjects research
-Experience working to review and/or manage conflicts of interest
-Experience working with support programs for research integrity/responsible conduct of
research
