Proposal and Award Generalist 3

The Thomas D. Larson Pennsylvania Transportation Institute within the College of Engineering, is an interdisciplinary research center located on Penn State's University Park campus. Annual expenditures are approximately $10 million, with active contracts totaling more than $30 million. The Institute seeks a proposal and grants specialist to support the Institute's research programs.

The successful candidate will be the primary point-of-contact for all Institute proposal development, which includes sponsors such as the National Cooperative Highway Research Program, Federal Highway Administration, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, other State and local transportation agencies, and private industry, among others. As the point-of-contact, the proposal coordinator will assist affiliated faculty and research staff in preparing and submitting proposals; coordinate all proposal and award processing with Penn State's Office of Sponsored Programs; and identify research and grant opportunities for research affiliates. The position requires excellent written and oral communication skills, and knowledge of the University's research administrative processes.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with a research administration setting is desired. Delegated signature authority, or the ability to obtain it, is preferred. The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and lead an office team in support of the proposal development process is essential. Knowledge of MS Office products and basic project management tools is necessary.
