REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Serve as secretary to the Director performing a variety of clerical and secretarial duties in support of the department, establish and maintain positive staff and public relations; prepare and type a variety of correspondence, agendas, memoranda, reports and other materials; compose routine correspondence as required; arrange, schedule and attend a variety of meetings; record and transcribe minutes; establish and maintain filing systems; maintain confidentiality of information; coordinate activities of the department between the Director and staff, the public or other District or campus officials; review and proof documents, records and forms for accuracy, completeness and conformance to applicable rules and regulations; answer request for information by enclosed materials or sending form letters; process various forms and application materials for departmental programs; coordinate various activities applicable to the department; receive, open, prioritize and distribute mail; identify and refer matters to the Director in order of priority; receive visitors, schedule appointments, maintain electronic calendar, screen visitors and phone calls and refer to appropriate staff members; operate word processor and related equipment for the preparation and maintenance of a variety of complex documents correspondence, reports and related materials; collect and compile statistical and financial data and other information for inclusion into specials and periodic reports and records; track and monitor budget expenditures; operate a variety of office machines and equipment, including word processor, computer terminal, printer and duplicating equipment; provide assistance and information to students, staff and the public regarding department; request information from students as necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school including or supplemented by course work in secretarial science and three years of increasingly responsible clerical or secretarial experience.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Range 16, Steps 1-6, $3,453.00-$4,199.00. Initial placement for external applicants is Step 1. An excellent benefits package which includes medical, vision, dental, retirement, vacation, generous sick leave package, and life insurance is available for the employee and eligible dependents.

WORKING DAYS & HOURS:
Monday-Friday: 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (Approximately). Work schedule may be adjusted to meet the needs of the office.

STARTING DATE:
As soon as the successful candidate is identified and following the subsequent governing board approval.
