Salary for Announcement: The salary range for this position is $37,400 $56,200. The final salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Position Summary:
The position exists to provide academic advising for the department of Management and administrative support. Duties include personalized academic planning and troubleshooting student issues, completing special department projects, supporting Directors of Entrepreneurship and International Business Center Directors and providing backup to the department Administrative Assistant. Other expectations include creating and updating program materials, completing discretionary overrides for students, updating catalog requirements, providing high quality superior professional services to students and faculty in a pleasant and seamless fashion, and responding to the ongoing complexities and challenges of this dynamic and growing department.
The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups.


Duties/Responsibilities:
Office Administrative Assistant (20%):
Provide backup to the department administrative assistant. Work on special projects and maintain the department television. Provide administrative services to the Directors of the Entrepreneurship and International Business Centers.
Program/Technical Duties:
Makes recommendations to the Chair in matters related to student registration, admissions and records; suggests action for resolution of student issues.
Professional Academic Advising Duties (80%) : Provide academic advising students on course offerings, academic degree programs, and creating semester plans for students seeking management majors. This work includes: coordinating, planning and preparing for advising sessions with current, potential, transfer and readmit students. Maintain confidential student files as well as documenting all advising sessions using SSC, Degree Works, or current advising record keeping system. Disseminate policy and procedural information to students, departments and other University units. Provide advising assistance to Department of Management faculty. Collaborate with College & University services for student retention initiatives, orientations, etc. Provides University and professional resources to students. Evaluate transfer courses, & initiates Degree Exceptions. Works with the Admissions office to identify newly admitted Management majors and contacts them regarding orientation and advising issues.
Other Duties as assigned such as: Participate on College of Business and University committees and task forces. Participates in College & University professional development opportunities.


Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree
One year office experience
Experience advising students in higher education on academic degree programs, and creating semester plans.
Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, publisher, data base, educational software program (such as Degree Works).


Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in accounting, computer information systems, finance, management, marketing, business administration, international business, entrepreneurship, or other related fields.
One or more years of experience in higher education advising.
Experience using a computer based advising system.
One or more years of Banner experience
Experience working with diverse, urban and non-traditional student populations.
One or more years advising experience with one of the six business college disciplines (ACC, CIS, ECO, FIN, MGT, MKT)
One or more years office work experience with one of the six business college disciplines (ACC, CIS, ECO, FIN, MGT, MKT).
Knowledge of major degree plans and course offering sequence.
Interpersonal and Communication skills
