Position Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Associate Dean for Research and the Director of the UCLA Center for Oral/Head and Neck Oncology Research (COHNOR), incumbent serves as

1) Research Training Grants Coordinator:

The Research Training Grants Coordinator serves as the coordinator for the NIH funded Training Grants (T90/R90, R25 BI G DOC; R25 Rigor & Reproducibility and K12 DSPP) with responsibility for issues arising from grant administration of ~40 trainees per year. The individual is the training grant coordinator to the PI of each training grant: 1) T90/R90; 2) R25 BIG DOC; 3) R25 R&R and 4) K12 DSPP and will prepare all paperwork and maintain data related to appointments and terminations, advise trainees on budgetary guidelines in accordance with applicable NIH and UCLA policies, serve as the primary point of contact for issues that may arise from the NIH, OCGA EFM, and/or Graduate Division, keep up-to-date records on disbursements of stipends and expenses made by trainees; lead in the preparation of the annual progress reports (RPPR), including reporting on individual trainee progress and collecting updated information from current and past trainees in accordance with NIH guidelines and formats; and represent School of Dentistry's Training programs at the annual American Association for Dental Research conference.

2) Administrative Coordinator to the Associate Dean of Research:

i) As part of the Research Office Administration Duties, the Coordinator shall provide administrative and research support to Associate Dean of Research, including, providing grant administrative support (pre- and post-) for other grants awarded to the Research Office, compiling and maintaining accurate contact information of all T90/R90 grant participants and members of School's research enterprise; coordinating meetings, taking minutes and following up on all action items from funded research projects and School research related meetings; coordinating travel arrangements for national and international travel for the Director, PIs and visitors to the labs; tracking and reporting expenditures from the School-allocated funds (~$100,000/year); gathering information for the School of Dentistry Annual Report and data in response to requests as they may arise from time to time; assisting Research Analyst with planning and logistics for School's Annual Research Day and other events; and other duties as may be assigned by supervisor from time to time.

ii) Supervise pre-award analyst and provide cross coverage of the pre-award office when the research analyst is away.

Supervise the School of Dentistry's Grant Analyst. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: development and writing of contract proposals, by consulting, advising, guiding, assisting, budgeting, and submitting application to agencies. Serve as a representative to interact with funding agencies, collaborating departments on campus, and the University Offices of Contracts and Grants Administration, Office of Intellectual Property, and Extramural Fund Management. Incumbent is required to provide timely and accurate reports ensuring that contracts and grants are submitted by agency-imposed deadlines.
