Responsibilities
With oversight and direction from the Assistant Controller, the Director of Grants & Restricted Funds will oversee all aspects of administration, compliance, and fiscal management of grants and contracts awarded from federal, state and local government and private funding agencies (including restricted gifts/funds) which includes:

  • Coordinate with the Office of Sponsored Research (OSPAR) the review and approval of budgets, financial forecasts, and other detailed calculations as they relate to grant and contract funds.
  • Coordinate with the Development Office the review and approval of restricted gifts/funds,
  • Oversee the review of grant expenditures for adequate documentation, compliance with sponsor regulations and budgetary requirements.
  • Oversee grant kick-off meetings, close out meetings and monthly status meetings with appropriate personnel.
  • Perform monthly grant closing process as required by the financial accounting software
  • Provide oversight of the principal investigator and dean's designated indirect cost recovery accounts
  • Review and approve salary requests in FacComp System in accordance with funding agency and budgetary requirements.
  • Perform revenue and expenditure analyses, closeouts of assigned grants and restricted gifts/funds and other fiscal reporting duties.
  • Manage grant cash management and accounts receivable by ensuring timely and accurate draw downs and invoicing.
  • With assistance from Principal Investigators, ensure fiscal and final reports to sponsoring agencies are submitted in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Prepare materials for submission to the Assistant Controller for the annual Single Audit as well as the Schedule of Federal Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) as reported to the auditors. Ensure proper filing of the related Data Collection Form (DCF) with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Federal clearinghouse.
  • Prepare the indirect cost rate proposal for review and approval by Senior Management.
  • Other duties and functions as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in accounting or business administration required
  • At least five years of post-award sponsored research experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Uniform Guidance (formerly known as A-21, A-110, A-133 and 2 CFR 200) compliance requirements and Federal Acquisition Regulation and individual federal and state agency regulations.
  • Ability to respond to a wide variety and volume of requests from numerous individuals in a timely and professional manner.
  • Certified Research Administrator credentials preferred.
  • Knowledge of grants management policies and procedures for federal, state, local and private; experience in budget preparation; extensive experience with enterprise data system; accounting knowledge; experience working with OMB circulars; excellent interpersonal skills; and highly organized
  • Ability to communicate effectively with officials from federal, state, local and private agencies
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet multiple, co-occurring internal and external deadlines.
  • Ability to work with web-based grants management system
